Intermittent fasting success stories
We’ve helped over 120,000 people just like you lose weight, keep it off and improve their health

Losing 21kg has given me a new sense of freedom, and I'm finally off all my medications.

I was on two separate medications and by the end of the 12 weeks, I had dropped down to one.

The programme flexibility is the main reason for our success - we've lost 51kg between us.

Losing 63kg has completely turned my health around—I've put my pre-diabetes into remission.
What is the Fast 800 diet?
At The Fast 800, we know that everyone has different goals and lifestyles, so we don’t promote a one-size-fits-all diet. Instead, we offer three different science-backed diet approaches: The Very Fast 800, The New 5:2, and The Way of Life. Each one caters to different health aims and lifestyles, helping you achieve weight loss the sustainable, enjoyable way. The Fast 800 diet Programme has everything you need to support you through this journey, including fasting-friendly recipes, meal plans, exercise videos, mindfulness resources and shopping lists all in one place.
How does the Fast 800 diet work?
All three of The Fast 800 diet approaches follow the principles of a Mediterranean-style diet, as well as focusing on exercise, mindfulness and community support. You can easily switch between each diet approach as your goals and needs change. The Very Fast 800, which involves fasting for up to 12 weeks, will help you rapidly lose weight whereas The New 5:2, which follows a two day intermittent fasting pattern, will help you lose weight steadily. The Way of Life is also for gradual weight loss, but is also ideal for overall health improvement or for maintaining your hard-earned weight loss. The key is to find out which approach works best for you, and that’s where The Fast 800 diet Programme can help. When you get started, you’ll take a personalisation quiz where we’ll recommend an approach for you.
What other health benefits are there from following The Fast 800 diet?
The Fast 800 diet plans are all completely backed by science so we know they all have many health benefits, aside from simply helping you lose weight. The Fast 800 recipes are based on the principles of a Mediterranean diet, which has been shown to be one of the healthiest ways of eating in the world, known to improve cardiovascular health, mood and cognitive function, gut health and insulin sensitivity. Furthermore, intermittent fasting diets like The Very Fast 800 and The New 5:2 have been shown to reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes, improve your sleep and improve insulin sensitivity.
Is The Fast 800 diet plan for everyone?
Each of The Fast 800 diet plans are flexible enough to cater to many different goals and dietary needs. The Programme features recipes which can be adapted to your own dietary preferences, and provides meal plans that can be adapted around your unique lifestyle and plans. Similarly, The Fast 800 diet plans can cater to those who want to lose weight rapidly, steadily or those who don’t want to lose weight at all but simply want to transform their overall health. That said, as with any change in your diet, you should consult your usual healthcare professional before commencing The Fast 800 diet programme. Click here to see who fasting isn’t suitable for.
What foods can I eat on The Fast 800 diet?
The key to success while trying The Fast 800 diet is to eat quality calories, rich in nutrients. To feel satiated and nourished while following any of the approaches on The Fast 800 diet plan, you must consume your daily recommended intake of protein and fibre, eat plenty of healthy fats and stick to a moderately low-carb Mediterranean-style diet. It’s simpler than it may sound: foods like chicken, oily fish, non-starchy vegetables, Greek yogurt, olive oil and tofu are ideal staples during this diet as they are low in carbs but high in protein, fibre and healthy fats which will keep you energised and fuller for longer.
Can I drink alcohol on The Fast 800 diet?
When moving to a healthy lifestyle, staying hydrated is vitally important. It will help with your energy levels, keep constipation and bloating at bay and will ensure you don’t mistake thirst signals for hunger signals. For this reason, choosing herbal teas, water infused with fresh fruit or black coffee are the best beverages to enjoy on a fasting diet. So, while the occasional glass of red wine has been shown to have some health benefits, it’s advisable to stick with hydrating non-alcoholic drinks while following the 800 diet. Our coaches from The Fast 800 diet programme have shared their favourite drinks to enjoy on a fasting day if you need a little inspiration.
Can I exercise while on The Fast 800 diet?
Yes, you can exercise on The Fast 800 diet plan. We recommend following a combination of three types of activity: HIIT (high intensity interval training), resistance training, and ‘incidental’ exercise. However, we also recommend yoga and Pilates to build strength and improve overall well being. For weekly HIIT and resistance training plans that are tailored to you, sign up to The Fast 800 Programme. There you’ll find helpful videos that range from beginner to experienced levels led by our fitness experts, that you can follow from home. You’ll also find follow-along Pilates and yoga workouts to enjoy if you find they work for you.
Do I have to do intermittent fasting on The Fast 800?
Not all of The Fast 800 diet plans have to involve intermittent fasting, but some do so it’s about choosing which approach is right for you. The Very Fast 800 and The New 5:2 approaches involve intermittent fasting. The Way of Life is not based around intermittent fasting, however you may choose to adopt a time restricted eating (TRE) pattern for its many health benefits. Read about time restricted eating.
Who created The Fast 800 diet?
While fasting has been a practice for thousands of years, it wasn’t until recently that researchers understood its full potential when it comes to health and weight loss. The Fast 800 Diet plan was developed with Dr Michael Mosley, which is why it’s sometimes known as the Michael Mosley diet. He developed it alongside a team of doctors and Health Coaches to provide an innovative approach to healthy living and weight loss, based entirely on scientific research. The Fast 800 Programme provides you with exclusive direct access to our Health Coaches for support throughout your journey, so sign up today to gain access.
How long do you follow The Fast 800 diet plan for?
The Fast 800 diet plan can be followed long-term by switching through our approaches. While many start with The Very Fast 800 (800 calorie diet), most members phase into following The New 5:2 diet or The Way of Life after their 12-week programme has finished to ensure they don’t gain back the weight they lost. Thanks to the variety of a Mediterranean diet (recognised by science as one of the healthiest in the world), this way of eating is both sustainable and enjoyable – a win-win for lasting health.
