How To Find Your Exercise Level

When it comes to finding an exercise level that is right for you, there are many factors that come into play.

The Fast 800 Online Programme has 4 progressive exercise levels that include resistance and HIIT (high intensity interval training) workouts, guided Pilates sessions and weekly stretching videos. These exercise plans are prescribed to members based on the results of their personalisation quiz.

There are two big factors that determine your exercise level; firstly, your current activity level and, secondly, your exercise experience.

How active are you right now?

People who take fewer than 5,000 steps a day have a sedentary lifestyle. Increasing your activity level to anywhere between 7,500 and 10,000 steps would place you into the moderate, or somewhat active, level.

If you are struggling to advance to higher levels of day to day activity, small modifications to your day can help. Try parking further away when going to work, or while running errands. You can also use the stairs instead of an elevator. Sometimes, minor changes like these can make a big difference in your daily step count.

If you do not have an active job and are rather sedentary during your day to day life, then you will certainly feel the demands of an advanced exercise programme to be too much at first. Our exercise levels; Low Impact and Beginner give you a gentle introduction to exercise, while still offering a challenge and opportunity to progress.

Conversely, if you are very active, go for regular walks or play recreational sports then you may need your starting point to be at our Intermediate or Advanced level. However, as mentioned it is also your experience of exercise that helps determine at what level you should be training at.

Have you exercised before?

Our Low Impact and Beginner plans are perfect for those of you who haven’t exercised on a consistent basis before. The carefully demonstrated and modified exercises offer a safe way to push your body to new levels using the resistance and HIIT workouts.

If you are unable to regularly exercise due to mobility issues – the brand new Low Impact plan targets members with such issues who may struggle to get on and off the floor. This is a great place to start for those who find they are restricted to certain exercises due to painful knees, hips, back or other areas. It’s also a great starting point for members who are completely new to exercise and find the Beginner plan a little too much.

On the other hand, our Intermediate and Advanced exercise plans are suited for those who are familiar with the gym and more weight based exercises. These higher impact and targeted workouts will push your resistance training, while the HIIT sessions will offer a tough test to even the regular gym goers.

No matter where your starting point is, we’ll show you how to find your exercise level and help you progress at a pace that suits your needs.

Finally, how to progress

Once you are regularly exercising, our focus is on your journey to better health through exercise progression.

Adding slow but steady progression, along with variety, to any exercise plan is an essential factor in determining fitness goals. Once you have nailed the basics – mixing up your exercise sessions is critical; if you complete the same workouts each time, your muscles adapt, rather than evolve.

Progression is vital to improve both strength and stamina and this is the reason we offer multiple levels of exercise difficulty on The Fast 800 exercise plan. The aim of our exercise programme is to gradually move members through the levels, while helping them become fitter and stronger.
